Veterans Community Project is a newly formed nonprofit organization dedicated to ending veteran homelessness by building specialized communities of tiny homes. To make its vision a reality, the organization partnered with Atlas® Roofing Corp., Atlanta.

On Aug. 8, Atlas Roofing held a Build Day to construct 13 tiny homes in Kansas City, Mo. The company donated materials and expertise to build energy-efficient, code-compliant homes for the community.

With support from Atlas Roofing, Veterans Community Project opened its first village in the U.S. Plans are underway to expand the Kansas City community to 49 homes. The organization hopes to build a tiny house community in every major U.S. city, including St. Louis and Nashville, Tenn., which currently are in various stages of development.
