The University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design, Lawrence, helps prepare graduate students for successful architectural careers. As part of the program, students are responsible for the design and construction of an energy-efficient building. The 2020 class turned to Atlas® Roofing Corp., Atlanta, to supply sustainable building envelope solutions for a single-family residence.

Students worked closely with Atlas Roofing managers to determine the best insulation products to achieve LEED® Platinum certification. As part of the roof assembly, students installed ACFoam® Nail Base along with a layer of cellulose to meet the desired R-value of 60.73.

Although construction halted in March 2020 because of COVID-19, many graduating seniors volunteered to stay through the summer to complete the project.
