The Kraft Heinz Co., Chicago, completed a pilot roofing project to demonstrate the use of roof boards made from recycled flexible packaging. The test project was made possible by the company’s participation in Materials Recovery for the Future, a nonprofit research collaboration

Made from post-consumer flexible plastic and fiber, the roofing material was installed in Holland, Mich., in late 2020 and will be monitored for performance. Findings will be reported to the Association of Plastic Recyclers’ Demand Champion program for possible future standardization of the recycled material.
