A boathouse in northern Wisconsin near Manitowish Waters was designed to blend with its surroundings from a distance and become surprisingly unique as you approach it.
Designed by KEE Architecture, Madison, Wis., architects chose RHEINZINK-prePATINA® Graphite-Grey zinc panels for their ability to weather darker while shedding snow and debris such as pine needles.
Craftsmen from Natural Metal Associates, Mont Vernon, N.H., installed 2,282 square feet of mechanical-lock standing-seam panels, 773 square feet of radiused mechanical-lock standing-seam panels and 1,235 linear feet of flashing material.
Workers began in the front of the building and worked toward the rounded back of the building where the panels were tapered to form a low-slope cone-shaped roof. Each wooden rafter tail was fitted with a single piece of Graphite-Grey zinc.
